Bob grew up in Concord, NH and graduated from Concord High School in 1950. In 1955, he graduated from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC and in 1961 he graduated from Denver Seminary, Denver, CO. In 1956 Bob and Elva McKinley were married in Tucson, AZ where she had lived all of her life. They had met in 1952 while they were both students at BJU. Their marriage has been blessed with three children: Linda, David & Mark. Now they have seven grandsons, one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Between 1955 and 1985, Bob was pastor of several churches in three states: AZ, CO, & NH, which included Conservative Baptist churches in Lakewood, CO, Farmington, NH, Buckeye, AZ and Safford, AZ. In all the churches where they have served, the family has been very active in musical ministries, such as choirs, piano, instrumental and vocal music.
In 1985, their lives changed after it was diagnosed that Bob had Chronic Leukemia. In 1987, he graduated from Apollo College in Phoenix majoring in respiratory therapy, and then worked at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City, AZ for over eight years until retirement because of physical problems. They lived in Phoenix for many years, but moved to Sun City, AZ in 1999.
They became active at the First Baptist Church of Youngtown and Bob was serving as chairman of the Deacon Board at the time of the merger with Compass Christian Fellowship in September of 2007. He became an associate pastor of the merged congregation in December of 2007. They are thankful for the Lord's leading, in bringing two congregations together, blending all ages into the new Compass Bible Church. |
